Vientos Limpios was established in 2001 in the midst of a deep economic crisis in Argentina. Many Villa 21 residents found themselves in a desperate situation. The charity began by offering training and support to local men struggling with a lack of work opportunities. The project was so successful it developed into a full adult learning centre which was taken over by the local government. The facility now teaches hundreds of students each year.

Today, Vientos Limpios offers a wide range of programmes in education, health, culture, women's issues and more - all based in a large purpose-built centre in the heart of Villa 21. Vientos Limpios has always been run by local people, for local people. This enables a deep understanding of the issues faced in the barrio and the best way to support the community.

Fundación 21 recently helped fund a large scale expansion and refurbishment of the Vientos Limpios building. This has allowed the charity to offer many more programmes including adult literacy classes, support for women in need and an eye health service. We helped Vientos Limpios to launch a health promotion course in collaboration with the esteemed University of Buenos Aires. The course gives local people a chance to embark on a career in health and social care. We are also proud to support the Saturday school club which provides extra educational assistance for children.

We continue to support Vientos Limpios in their fantastic work on a project by project basis.
